Just A Phone Call Away

Posted June 16th, 2015

telephoneOperation Reassurance,  is a daily telephone contact program for seniors and disabled individuals who live alone in Eastern Montgomery County, coordinated by The Muller Institute for Senior Health at Abington Jefferson Health. The program has been in existence in Montgomery County since 1985 and  is currently available to residents over the age of 60 of Montgomery and surrounding counties. In the past 25 years, lives have been saved, injuries have been minimized, and the security and safety of those living alone has been increased.

Participants in the program call the Operation Reassurance’s operator between 700 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. each morning, 365 days a year. If the operator does not receive a call, she/he will first try to contact the participant. If the participant does not answer she/he will call a prearranged contact number of a family member or friend. Finally, if both of these contacts are unsuccessful, she/he will call the local police department who will make a home visit.

If you are interested in signing up for this free program, call 215-481-2571. You will be asked to provide them with your name and telephone number, the telephone numbers of 2 people who they may call if they cannot get in touch with you, and the name of your local police department.

Peace of mind is just a phone call away!
